The ground rules: what Acto offers you, what you can publish on it, and what has no place here.

1. Who publishes Acto

Acto is published by Arnaud CHIKHANI, sole trader, based at 37 rue Saint-Ambroise, 75011 Paris, France.

2. What Acto is

Acto is a mobile training app for actors. It lets you import and learn your lines, rehearse scenes with a cue partner, film your self-tapes, follow an exercise routine, and share your work with the actors you add as contacts.

The app is free. It contains no in-app purchases and no advertising.

Acto is a working tool, not an agency: the app gets you no roles, no auditions and no professional engagements.

3. Your account

You need an account to use Acto. You must be at least 15 years old.

You agree to give a valid email address, to keep your password to yourself, and to tell us if you think someone has got into your account.

One account belongs to one person. You are responsible for what happens from yours.

4. What you publish stays yours

Your texts, takes, clips, photos and recordings belong to you. Acto claims no ownership over them.

So that the app can work, you grant us a strictly limited licence: to host your content, convert it technically (compression, thumbnails, edits you trigger yourself) and show it to the people you choose to show it to. This licence is free of charge, non-exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

We never use your content for advertising, nor to train an artificial intelligence model.

5. What has no place on Acto

Zero tolerance. Objectionable content and abusive behaviour have no place on Acto. An account that publishes them is suspended or deleted, without notice.

The following are prohibited:

• harassment, threats, insults and pile-ons directed at a person;
• hateful or discriminatory speech, on any ground whatsoever;
• sexually explicit content, and any content involving a minor;
• gratuitous violence, glorification of terrorism, incitement to suicide or to dangerous behaviour;
• impersonation and fake accounts;
• publishing a person’s content, image or data without their consent;
• sharing a work you hold no rights to;
• spam, solicitation and any attempt to circumvent the app’s security.

You remain responsible for what you publish, including for the consent of the people who appear in your videos and photos.

6. Report, block, moderate

Every clip, photo and comment can be reported from inside the app, in two taps, through the context menu. You can also block any user: they no longer see anything of yours and can no longer contact you.

Every report is reviewed, and we commit to handling it within 24 hours. Depending on what we find, the content is removed, the account suspended, or the account permanently deleted.

You can also write to us directly at contact@acto.re, in particular if the content concerns you personally.

We may remove content or close an account without warning when the severity calls for it. If you believe the decision is unfair, reply to the message we sent you: a human will read you again.

7. The texts you import

Acto lets you import your own texts, by file, by photo or by typing them in. Those texts stay private: only you can see them, unless you decide to share them with a contact.

You must hold the necessary rights over what you import, or stay within private copying and the exceptions provided by law. A script entrusted to you by a production remains confidential: honouring that agreement is on you.

8. The Acto library

The texts offered in the app’s library are either public domain works or original texts written for Acto. You are free to work on them, perform them and film them, including for an application.

You may not resell them or republish them as your own.

9. Artificial intelligence features

Some features rely on an AI provided by Google: deciphering a script that is hard to read on import, and suggesting angles for analysing a scene.

These features only switch on with your explicit consent, asked for inside the app, and revocable at any time in the settings. Your videos and recordings are never sent to the AI.

What the AI suggests is a lead, not a truth. It gets things wrong. Keep your own judgement.

10. The service, as it is

Acto is under continuous development: features appear, change, and sometimes disappear. We do our best to keep the app available, without being able to guarantee it at all times (maintenance, a provider outage, force majeure).

Back up what matters to you. An app is not a safe.

11. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, in Settings, without having to ask anyone.

Deletion is permanent and erases your content. The details are on the Delete my account page.

12. Liability

Acto is provided as is. We are liable for direct damage resulting from a failure on our part, within the limits allowed by law.

We are not responsible for content published by other users, nor for the use you make of the app, nor for the outcome of an application you send.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may change, in particular to follow the app or the regulations. In case of a substantial change, you will be told inside the app or by email before it takes effect.

Continuing to use Acto after that date means you accept them. Otherwise, you can delete your account.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law.

If something goes wrong, write to us first at contact@acto.re: most situations get settled in a few messages.

Failing agreement, you may use a consumer mediator free of charge, or refer the matter to the European online dispute resolution platform. French courts remain competent.
